My dearest comrade,

As individuals we struggle and fight everyday, we fight for our access to food, our access to healthcare or to get out of bed and face the crushing reality of a life of permanent submission to the system. We steal and toil, saving every scrap the bourgeoisie toss us. We scurry in the dark, lashing out with ferocious gnawing at the hands that feed us. But the crumbs are never enough to sustain us comfortably, our bites are never hard enough to hurt them. We are disunited terrorists to an order that keeps us atomized.

I need you my dearest comrade to know we can escape together. When people talk about “escaping the system”, they often mean an individual path where you either somehow “win” at capitalism, or become so self reliant that you don't need anyone else around you to survive. You have enough money to pay for anything, or you are your own surgeon, dentist, plumber, mechanic, therapist, pharmacist, etc. This highlights a horrifying truth behind individualism and capitalism; if you need care, then you are forever enslaved.

What is expected of you is the system, you go to school, you work and then you die. You're expected to become another drone in the pursuit of endless growth, if you refuse then the system tries to reign you in. This ‘reigning in’ is called repression, it is every reaction the system enacts against subversive behaviour, it is the police, catcalling, sexual violence, judgemental looks on the street. Repression is how the system keeps us in line. Like a burdened horse we are pulled and spurred with bleeding sides on the path the system has carved for us.

But we can break these bonds, the age old protest cry holds true “until the last lock breaks none of us are free!” Together we can escape to the fringes. We can occupy barren lots and set up intentional communities, we can cohabitate in squatted buildings, we can occupy the forests to protect them from the industrial world. To submit is an obvious choice, but it is still a choice! You can choose to struggle! You can choose to disobey your masters! But we cannot choose to do this alone without choosing misery and death, the system is extremely experienced at dealing with rebels. Unless you want to end up dead or imprisoned you need your comrades alongside you every step of the way, together we win!

Take these pretentious words however you want. But I need you to ask yourself if servitude to this system is what you want, and if not I need you to know you’re not alone. In solitude we wither, with arms locked we thrive <3

 Kind regards,
